我的重点不是在说ABC过得有多好,我的重点是说在国内活着出路更小。大多数人在美国生活更合适。
我自己海归了好多年,老实说,在国内一线里,也算是家庭收入应该算很成功吧。
不算大富大贵,但是,我们全家即使现在不上班,也能过得挺好。
但是,在国内时真的没有安全感,所以就归海了。另外,玻璃天花板,在中国也有,也很厚,只是不是以肤色论而已。
回美国后中,我很满意现在的状态,也很满意孩子们现在的状态。
我不知道一般人怎么想,我自己回了一趟,再归来,希望我的两个孩子就在美国好好度过人生,就好。
你说的美国天花板,对于时代弄潮儿和王孙贵族,可能不公平。但是,普通人真的没有什么太压抑。而且普通人回到中国,发现中国玻璃天花板厚度一样很大。
不是想deny,日子是自己过的,哪里好自己可以选择,没必要说服别人。。你怎么选的,你自己心里没数吗?

我说的是发展机会太少了, 不是没有机会。而且吴的机会也是香港给的, 事业是从香港发展起来的。如果在美国, 很有可能一辈子就是一个建筑师。其它几个人没几个人知道, 就说明问题了。

坦率地说,华裔是有一些stereotypes 的。
有的人非不承认,也不知道啥心态。
不过虽然如此,在中国长大的孩子也需要面对别的不如意。总归是没有啥地方是完美的生存环境。虽然不如意,有遗憾,但也不是太差就是了。孩子想对我们来说,受得限制还是少一些。我们大多数人都生活的还不错,孩子应该也没有太多问题的。

Unfortunately, 华裔的收入并没有远高于其他种族。
收入来看,亚裔平均高于其他种族,但是细分的看,华裔是略低于亚裔平均的。
印度人才是遥遥领先的那个。
而华裔得平均学历是和印度人差不多的。远高于其他种族。
我又没说abc不能从政,不能管人,只是希望大妈们要把娃往则方面培养。别怎天盯着医生工程师文艺工作者这种没有leadership的干活。

你这都是6年前的数据了。身边的例子来看,印度人收入没有华人高。女儿好几个印度同学,家里房子都比较小,然后兴趣班都很少送私教,都是group lesson。说太贵了。
我觉得前面那个id说得很对,就是因为华人政庇什么的人数多得多,还有开餐馆收现金什么。降低了平均收入的水平。我是大农村地区,第一代华人移民,家庭收入很少低于15万的,第二代abc,认识好多是马来西亚台湾香港移民,年收入都是30万朝上,都是医生律师牙医什么的。
估计it行业印度人比较占优势,其他行业没觉得。我公司里的印度人感觉混得跟我也差不多,还有些没买房的呢!
低于印度裔是无可奈何地接受了,低于菲裔,高华是要气死了,对于高华来说是要坚决和唐人街的低华细分开来的。
不管烙印还是老中,第一代移民就会有移民父母,都有可能和移民父母常住,参考隔壁牛妈帖子,不管小留老留,只要老婆是移民,老公就有可能和丈母娘常住。
你家小ABC以后找小留,就有可能和女方父母常住,挺好的,可以扩大华人队伍。

ABC走政途肯定是不容易, 毕竟是minority,但也不见得就比在中国走政途难,中国自从厉害以后普通人的上升空间也越来越小了,比不得上世纪末重新洗牌的时候。如果接地气地论生活质量,ABC不会差。
那你们这些就别在费尽心机用尽手段的让自己娃来美国了吧?乌泱乌泱跑美国来生娃,没生成的就成千上万的送娃去美国来考SAT,搞得当地人都蒙了没地方考试。
可能也是跟来美的这一群人的性格有关,选择来美国的很多人都是厌恶人情世故,想逃避国内那种关系,只想过好自己的小日子,同时又不善于搞关系,结果在美国这种族群政治中就完全一盘散沙,没有影响力

明明就是cbc的失败。没有为下一代考虑。CBC想的就是打个工, 赚点钱,没想到如何影响社区,公司,社会,为下一代做准备。最后结果,ABC走的还是CBC的老路。
CBC迟早会意识到,现在没有意识到,未来总会意识到。
但是能出国的都是精英, 不是底层。 楼主说的也是事实, 确实华裔在美国从业的范围比在本国窄。 律所大partner, 从政, 新闻媒体, 文体娱乐, 这些华人都很少。
LZ 说的是事实啊,如果华人在美国精英阶层像犹太裔一样深得人心,名校为什么还歧视华人,哈佛为什么脸谱化亚裔,在 personality 上打压华人。美国犹太人口也不多啊。

很多想法只是从某些文章洗脑而来。这个不怪你,我曾经也有过类似的想法。只是经历多了,才慢慢有转变。
我自己出国留学工作,海归,再归海,整套经历来说,
美国绝对不是什么特别好的地方,自身问题一堆,但是,美国绝对是这个地球上少数的最好国家之一。
ABC在美国活,真的经松自在多了,生活的广度开阔多了。
不要说ABC,我很多朋友都把孩子送到美国,加拿大,都希望孩子在这里扎根。
如果楼主爹妈在中国,终身不退居二线,且又永久处于至少部长以上的地位,并且永远不被政敌搬到,我感觉你有条件发这种贴子。
就是她自己爸爸妈妈每天打工没时间管娃。全家兄弟姐妹都自推。比如我婆婆高中考上了hunter,她一个妹妹爬了大藤,两个弟弟都学了医做了医生。我婆婆中学不顾爹妈反对信了教找到了精神寄托。大学读的是洲大。
我其实真的不能理解我婆婆嫁我公公的。我觉得我公公真的是什么能力都没有性格还不好。所以我个人支持abc男娶小留,反对abc女嫁小留的。
