在卡内基 solo 通常是得国际大奖后的奖品之一，是非常高的荣誉。有心推娃走这条路的父母应该从小就多关注这方面的比赛，多参加多累积经验。
很好奇这种是走专业吗？还是学到不一定是音乐类的？ 还有音乐学院预科的，不知道是不是也要走专业的。
亮度4里的AIME qualified, 对女生还是相当有用的。
哪有什么出处。这个单子在板上已经发过很多次了。是一帮college confidential上的孩子们自己总结出来的，有些年头了。一些中文自媒体拿来抄来抄去而已。不是说这个单子完全没有用，只是说有借鉴意义，远远不是什么官方权威人士出的单子。
所以 还是自推娃自己在搞，哈哈，家长就不要操心了
有，亮眼度3里第7条。
不走专业在申请大学时才是亮点。直白的说，非专业的在比赛中赢了专业的，才是大大加分。艺术类的奖项，比其它科目更有努力空间。
找到了，是Head of a competitive club that you did not found，可是我家娃只是乐于参加Science Olympiad，当不了头，有TROY 在那里挡着，也进不了national，唉！

我认识的孩子，拿到这个级别的荣誉的，一半专业学音乐，一半是其他。学习没有太差的话，学校随便挑了。
不懂就问，体育招生进大学为学校校队效力。音乐特长如果不是音乐系的化，大学招音乐特长的学生目的是啥？类似还有画画好的，但是又不报考艺术/设计专业的。
音乐特长的小孩是很多科系的favorite，比如学医的，看重小孩的手眼脑子配合能力，做事又能专注。举个例吧，大提琴拉到专业水平的姐弟俩，Esther Yu 和 Sean Yu , 都是少年成名，进过NPR 电台，拿过小柴奖，大学都学医了。进了大学还是经常会被各种地方邀请回去表演。 没到他们这个级别的，大学里也是有乐团，也是要表演的啊，各种concert，各种活动需要音乐人才，大学还能光读书和party了？
谢谢回复。mm能不能讲讲有跳舞、画画这些特长申请非专业， 对大学升学能有啥优势，或者另一个角度，这些特长对大学社区的参与和贡献。

这话逻辑不对
独奏是指一两个小时自己一个人的“独奏"会。另一方面来说，小时候参加这种团体的winners' recital 是非常好的训练及经验。罗马不是一天造成的。
这个List 挺靠谱的，个人观察如果拿到7和7以上奖项，加上好的 GPA，EC，ESSAY，推荐信等等，都可以冲藤。
不过我很怀疑会名校抢着要

谢谢。另外列表中的STEM奖对于小中男和小中女的区别很大。男生的奖要比女生大约高两级才相当。
NSDA,TOC 9 指的是最后在全国决赛中前几名（winner), 名校基本没问题。 如果只是NSDA，TOC qualifier（去参加全国比赛），那只是 6。 如果在NSDA，TOC全国比赛能进第二轮以后（半决赛之类），那就是 7。
这里面细分很大。
是的。估计是因为这个list 是美国高中生搞出来的，学stem 的白人女生很少，他们不了解
是的，男生如果只是AIME Qualified几乎没有用，女生就挺有用的。男生得是AMO，甚至再来几个别的STEM的O，才有把握进名校。

具体标准如何你家要和同校学生比啊。问学校的康嫂啊。
当然不是，想想像 UIUC 这样招生数庞大排名也不靠前的州立都要求如此高， 美国这么多学校那得有多少高水平学生？ 对自家孩子要有信心，实际上一般小中（不讨论那种所谓第一代大学生，说的是父母一代留学生移民过来的）上本州州立毫无压力。最靠前的那几个州立如UCLA UCB UM 等可能稍微难一点，也可能个别热门专业稍微难点， 本周州立通常也不会觉得 overqualified 而拒收，通常早早地 EA 照单全收虽然知道其中有很多不会来。
就发表论文来说，那基本所有faculty子女都能做到9，不少能有10。可能权重这么大么？表示怀疑
让孩子在有影响力的期刊上发表第一作者的文章，没几个faculty能做到。一般的faculty自己一年都不见得能发一篇影响因子大的文章呢。

一个高中生能在杂志文章里面到底贡献多少，做到什么程度，搞过科研的都清楚，研究生一般还都难
皮毛还没学到什么，就参与发文章，简直笑话，全是看关系
有的教授找别的教授带自己子女，加个名字也算，里面猫腻太多了

他女儿那时候小中都容易。像我们周围两个娃差约十岁的朋友有四个。哥哥姐姐都是大中藤。四家小的全是弟弟，没一根藤。好的也就是T20非藤。
他说女儿是参加校队才进的藤校，简直欺负我没文化，最关键就是联系实验室发文章了，那个时候人不多，现在去实验室发文章也卷了
十几年前考大学确实容易多了。记得比我们岁数大的一个老大哥的儿子，当年参加数学竞赛，都不是aime qualified这种级别的，已经算学校里成绩优异的了，轻松上小藤。现在的男生，几个O在手，都不敢拍胸脯保证能上小藤。

以前西门子奖还时兴的时候，我周围一老中，就是让成绩普通的儿子进了个实验室，得了西门子奖进了藤。这种走捷径真的对其他学子很不公平。
