I kind of disagree with your doctor''s recommendation, although I might be wrong as I don''t have all the information and I can''t claim I am an expert in this particular field. I''d like to share what I''m thinking just based on the limited information you provided. First of all, 76 years old is not that old, nowadays people easily live through 80s/90s. And cerebral atrophy happens almost to everyone when people get old, so cerebral atrophy itself really does not mean anything unless the patient is obviously demented without any other reasons. Pneumonia is easily treatable in most situations. The simplest way to improve the patient''s quality of life right now is to treat the pneumonia. I''d hate to make a critical decision like this one without knowing what''s going on. Chest CT/ whole-body PET scan are non-invasive tests for investigating possible lung cancer. The worst case is the patient has metastatic lung cancer secondary to previous gastric cancer. but if the lung cancer is actually a primary cancer, the prognosis of lung cancer really depends on the type and stage of the lung cancer. What I want to say is that not all lung cancer patients will have to die or die soon. This sounds a complicated situation and I recommend you get a 2nd opinion before you decide on hospice/palliative care pathway. God bless!

https://m.huaren.us/showtopic.html?topicid=2727258&fid=398&page=1

Mycancerstory.rocks
