Chemistry teacher (11th Grade teacher) (7/10) - Same reasoning as Precalc teacher Physics Teacher (12th Grade teacher) (9/10) - He does know me a bit outside of class and I am pretty sure I am one of his favorite students. So it was probably better than the other ones. Interviews UPenn (5/10) - Decent interview. We connected a little bit but there wasn''''t anything special. Nothing glaringly bad though. She seemed like she was vaguely going through a list, which is what I expected. Duke (8/10) - I really liked my interviewer and we had a good time. We were definitely not the same major but she was very responsive to my questions and I ended up feeling very good about the interview afterward. Tufts (8/10) - We connected pretty well immediately, and connected even better halfway through when I learned she went to my high school. This interview felt pretty good. Princeton (9/10) - She said some really nice things to me. It was a pretty solid interview. We talked for an hour and a half. Harvard (9/10) - He said I was the type of student that deserves to go to Harvard. Similar to the Princeton interview. It was a solid interview as well. Stanford (8/10) - We talked about our interests in classical music even though we had different tastes. It was still pretty interesting. Columbia (7/10) - Decent interview. GA tech campus, at first he was fine, but then he was afraid of going after the atlanta shooting.

Also took two classes with him senior year. We were pretty tight. English teacher: Took 9th grade English and an honors English elective with them in 11th grade. We weren’t that close, but my counselor said they wrote a really good rec. Counselor: She seemed to like my package but also seemed a little indifferent towards me, so IDK. Additional recs: One from the professor I did research with and another from my music teacher. Interviews Stanford: Not good. It was my first interview and my interviewer structured it like a question and answer, so it felt really cold (2/10) Harvard: Meh. Interviewer kept asking me to “tell me about yourself” until I eventually ran out of things to say (3/10) Penn: Amazing! It was over the phone, but we really hit it off, and they said I’d be a good match for the specific program at the school (10/10) Duke: Also pretty good. We connected over music, and they seemed interested in the EC’s and stuff I was doing (8/10) Cornell: Not bad. It didn’t feel like an interview, and I was basically asking them questions the whole time. Interviewer was really friendly and nice though (6/10) Princeton: Whatever. Interview went well until they asked for “my greatest challenge,” and then I folded (4/10) Essays CA essay: Hard to gauge my own writing, but I wrote about organizing an eating contest at my school. (maybe 6-7/10) Supplements: Differed between schools. I’d say my Stanford essays were 7-8 out of 10, my Michigan essays 1-2/10, and everything else somewhere around 5/10. US Earth Science Olympiad Camp Qualifier Two-time AIME Qualifier AP Scholar with Distinction Scholastic Flash Fiction Honorable Mention Honor Roll I guess Letters of Recommendation Precalc teacher (11th Grade teacher) (7/10) - He did recognize I was a decent student so I think he wrote a favorable recommendation. I didn''''t know him outside of class though so nothing special. Northwestern (4/10) - It was very clear that he was not very interested in what I had to say and was just going down a list. It is what it is. Not much to say about this one but it was fine. Essays Since I applied through the Questbridge National Match, I didn''''t have a common app at first but there was a really long essay I had to write. I wrote about my struggles as a minority by using Kafka''''s Metamorphosis as an analogy for my experience. When I got deferred from the eight schools I applied to for the early round, I changed my essay to talking about jumping off a bridge as a metaphor for having to relearn the violin. I spent a decent amount of time on these, and I did show them to a couple of people who said they were pretty good and unique.
it is the reality
ED = Early Decision (binding) EA = Early Action (non-binding) REA = restricted early action SCEA = single choice early action == REA RD = regular decision

Thanks for sharing!
Honor roll
Quest bridge
(Duke,WashU,Vandy)
Highlight?
