多数美国人还是更认同merit录取
美国现在超过一半的高中生都进不了大学。
我女儿跟我讲, 她去问老师了,老师说, 因为家长不喜欢老师布置total 超过一小时的homework. 但是呢, 似乎这个其实只是一部分家长。
另一方面,共4个班的年级竟然有2个班的gifted students. 且都满额了 (25人)。家长们基本都是在校外请人测的IQ, 让孩子进入gifted class.
也是地区最好初中
而且中等偏上娃一不留神也会被牺牲掉。我家熊娃初中混进accelerated program, 每周数学老师只上一次课,其他时间都让孩子自习。我家熊娃“自习”时候绝大部分时间都在玩电脑,就这样还混到了初中全A。进了高中终于有几个严格的老师了,希望对我家熊娃这种中上孩子有”鞭策”作用。从这个意义上说,还是感恩熊娃在割喉高中。
加上标考optional,每个大学录取的孩子,纸面上都是学霸。
还有很多家庭父母都没有接受过好的教育,哪里知道让孩子把空闲的时间用来explore EC?
