My son got 1550 on SAT. The problem is that he got only 780 on math. Should he re-take it in Oct to improve by 10-20 pts? he registered for it, but does not want to take it. he did not even want to take it last time. but he will compete with those with 800 in math. i think he should do it. our couselor does not think it is necessary.
If he restakes it, can he just take math and skip reading/writing? he was able to get 800 in math practice test last year. no idea how he did so poorly this time. thanks
He does not believe he would be rejected simply because his score is 10-20 pts too low. Rejection must be for other reasons. But i feel a higher score can increase your chance. Maybe this year the average score will be lower since more kids will submit. Who knows?
but what if he does worse? i understand all schools do superscoring, but what if he gets a lower score? will that hurt him? i cannot say he will get 790 or 800. his math is pretty strong. he got 5 on calc BC and physics C in sophormore year. he also took a few college courses.

A college coach said he should try to get 800 on math. They do not care much about reading and writing. Tough choice!

he said that before he took the test. i know he said no to another kid who did not take hard courses.
He waited so long to take his first test. I forced him to attend SSP and he still hates me for that. He wanted to quit the day he went there.
the problem is if he does not want to do that, most likely he may not do well in the test. anyway i will give it a try. thanks
疫情前听到的说法，M，SAT门槛数学770， 英文700，subject 最好有物理，750+。不太看重reading/writing. 这两年没要标考，现在也没有subject了。感觉上数学780和800 也没区别，最好有数学cal BC 物理E&M，也就足够证明实力了。

a lot of anxiety and stress. really hate this process.
1. 看你的目标，应该是顶尖的stem。M or Caltech。 你查查SAT 75%，基本都在 1570 以上
2. 这个时候， 投入最少效应最大的 我觉的就是 你这 SAT。 其他的 EC， essay cannot move the niddle.

我们 200 人的 毕业班， 每年 20 个 T5 。 除了极少数爹厉害， 不管是竞赛娃， 还是体育娃，科研娃， 文科大奖娃， SAT 1570 是 底线。 1570 也不是 一个 random number。 H/S/M 75% 都是 1570， 1580.
