"还是四个大club的presidents"--- this is a common mistake for applicants as one could not have such a magic power to run 4 clubs concurrently and successfully-- meanwhile, it shows that one does not really have consistence and dedication to one thing, rather the purpose would be to get many titles for school application-- every year many talented kids were declined because of this.
I thought it again: Once one serves as 当个好棒球队员还是队长, the person could not do anything else---sports and academic acheivements like 数学竞赛大奖 are mutually exclusive. 四大俱乐部主席 is also impossible!

被录取的5人中有3位小中、1个小印、1小黑。没有小白（虽然小白占学校55%，亚裔38%）。除一名（小中）是AMC12 低分进AIME，其他都没进入AIME。大多表现平平，几乎没什么奖项。5人中只有2人（小中）进入11人的National Merit半决赛。
结果一出，大家都百思不得其解。唯一的解释是，MIT的录取可能主要是考察subjective，主观的东西。比如essay，recommendation letters。竞赛成绩好像是负作用。除了前面说得那个超级学霸被拒绝了，4个AIME只录取了1个。 USACO金级的几个都没有被录取，5个被录取的只有一个是USACO银级，其他没参加（或者没有过铜级）
大家总结，如果不说是MIT，大家都以为是州大录取名单
除了了实力，还有运气。AO手中的pool里牛娃一大把，稍一花眼，就是下一个lucky one, 选哪个都不会出大差错。加上AO还有自己的preference。一女娃没进过RSI,但有一拼爹奖，入了M

考虑录了不来. 那个孩子多半会被其他T5录.
当然父母的基因很关键。

我观察到有些如果早申 MIT 的话，入取可能很大的孩子，早申选了哈佛。然后被 DEFER。regular 申 MIT就给据了。
I hoped that I did not hurt anyone--but I also wished that all talented students will get a well-deserved destination--
我们镇前几年也有这情况，外人百思不得其解。最后知情人告知家里第一代大学生，这相当于一个大奖。
