April 12,

Today, we will take a vehicle and passenger ferry operated by
Black Ball Transport from Victoria Downtown to  Port Angeles in Olympic National Park.

The ferry sails twice daily at this season, one is 10:30am , the other one is 4pm. We booked the 4pm one and have to be there at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departing time, that is 2:30pm.

So we have more than half of the day to explore more of the downtown area of the city of Victoria.

After we finishing breakfast in the hotel, we drove to the city park - Beacon Hill Park which is a large free public park located near downtown.

We stumbled upon Goodacre Lake right as we entered the park.  The reflections in the water, the surrounding trees with different colors, ducks swimming in water, birds sinning in the tree, making  it such a beautiful and peaceful spot.  I loved it immedially.

I walked  around the lake’s path and came acoss this charming stone bridge. I stood on the bridge, enjoying the unique perspective  of the lake, watching a few ducks  gliding across the water.

Cherry trees blooming in the park also

Another small lake - a  peaceful and beautiful spot

Free run peacock in the park. Many peacocks were rest on top of the trees.

There is a very unique garden area called Vancouver Island Rock and Alpine Garden inside the park, complimenting the nearby woodland garden area. it is so  pretty with colourful  wildflowers, rock plants and moss.

There are still lots of to see in the park. But we had to come back to the hotel to check out before 11am.

Last glance of the Craigdarroch Castle in the back of our hotel

We drove back to downtown area again and found out the place we should go for the ferry.  It is just near the Inner Harbour. It was still early. We saw one car already lining up there. We should have go there and park our car there. But we did't know we could do that at that time. So we parked our car near by and strolled around.

Took this ferry to go

beautiful coastal scenery while traveling in Strait of Juan de Fuca

It only took 90 minutes from Victoria to Port Angeles, Washington
