At a business event, where a group of French colleagues were dining with their US peers. A collegue in US asked one French what is "cheer" when propose a toast at the dining table. It was quite noisy at the table. Apparently, the French mistook the "cheer" for "cheese". So they replied "frommage".
Some moment later, the US collegue stood up and tried to give a toast with a French flavor. So with a clink of the wine glass, it went "Frommage!". The americans were dumbfounded. What was that for？ The French were bemused. Maybe it was a set up? who knows.
From that day on, "Frommage" became the high five wherever that collegue went.
