乔莉.格雷厄姆的这首《为什么》用了跨行（enjambment), 而不是结句行（end-stopped), 即诗行不对应语法的句子，所以我就意译了。 这里只是把这首诗按自己的理解断句翻译，难免有误，目的也只限于方便大家讨论：

感觉就如你所说，那样断句就是造了个（没啥意义的）迷宫，她自己念的时候全按意思断句，对诗行根本不照顾。：）
我的翻译是严格地按照原作文字表面的意思进行的，并没有按自己的理解添加。唯一不同的是我在翻译中没有像作者那样使用跨行句。但是只因为这个不同，我就说这是“意译”，这其实是我用词不当。

从这些解释可以看出，跨行句的断句除了让文字在形式上显得像诗，一般并无其他意义。就拿这首《为什么》来说，作者本人在朗诵时，也完全不顾及自己在哪里断句，而是按照表意的自然句的划分朗读的。
换句话说，因为跨行句只是一个存粹的形式，在译作中用不用对意思并无影响，不用也不算意译。
