这蛾子名字够雷 The gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) was introduced in 1868 into the United States by Étienne Léopold Trouvelot, a French scientist living in Medford, Massachusetts. Because native silk-spinning caterpillars were susceptible to disease, Trouvelot imported the species in order to breed a more resistant hybrid species. Some of the moths escaped, found suitable habitat, and began breeding. The gypsy moth is now a major pest of hardwood trees in the Eastern United States.
Since 1980, the gypsy moth has defoliated over one million acres (4,000 km2) of forest each year. In 1981, 12.9 million acres (52,200 km2) were defoliated. In wooded suburban areas, during periods of infestation, gypsy moth larvae crawl over man-made obstacles and sometimes enter homes. When feeding, they leave behind a mixture of small pieces of leaves and frass, or excrement. During outbreaks, the sound of moths chewing and dropping frass may be loud enough to sound like light to moderate rainfall. Gypsy moth populations usually remain low, but occasional increases to very high levels can result in partial or total defoliation of host trees. 1. Ontario is suffering Gypsy moth outbreak right now; victims include willow, birch, maple, poplar and any fruits, etc.. Some trees are almost bald and caterpillars are packed ;creepy

毛毛虫的问题好可爱, 所有caterpillar都是毛毛虫,不是某个物种的名称啊;那个绿色的不是蚊子吧

There was a heavy Phryganidia californica outbreak

a few years ago on the coast of California. The oak mothes voraciously fed upon the leaves of our native coast live oak trees. A lot oak trees suffered from that. Luckily, the few oak trees in my backyard survived.

An insect similar to the modern milipede crawled around Scotland 425 milions years ago is believed to be the oldest creature to have ever lived on land. Bugs rule! :)

Your pictures are really cool! The green bug in picture 3 camouflaged so well that I didn't spot it at the first glance.

噢,水是放洗衣粉吗?我应该试试,每个夏季要花挺多钱用在它们身上,配杀剂挺贵的
