租客住了快5年，最近和我说有一个toilet的flushing变得很慢，这个问题已经一年多了，最近变得严重，所以希望我能维修。我第一时间联系了一个之前换过马桶的handyman，打算换toilet，但是handyman看了之后说换toilet需要把地板给破坏了，不是容易的那种换。而且因为toilet太旧，handyman也没有办法直接修。
已经确认：没有漏水的问题。
我现在外地，6月底才能回去，不能直接去现场看。之前我记得好像波大和其他前辈有提供DIY解决办法，能否提供一些建议？我准备远程买一些溶剂之类的，可以让租客自己先试一下。

马桶下面那个洞离后墙的距离，叫做rough－in。rough－in有10吋，12吋，14吋等。rough－in 要和马桶配套，12吋roughin的马桶大，后面靠墙放进去，就和10吋的下水道不匹配。
老房子小厕所没地方，会一个10吋的roughin。后来房子不用10吋的roughin了，也就买不到10吋的马桶，这就是为什么你的handyman说换马桶换不到。
我买过一个60年代的房子，里面的马桶是新的，后来堵了，说换一个，打开看，原来马桶是12 坐在10吋的roughin 上面，下面的洞只有一半和马桶切合，另一半是水泥地面，形成了一个台阶，上面堵着冲不下去的手纸。
我到craiglist上面居然找到一个roughin 10吋的马桶，是旧房子人返修拆下来的，说舍不得扔，我正好买来换上。

if you get the stuff blocking the passage out then there is no need to replace the toilet.
