Smart details specific (name! Name! NAME only in the newspapers): How so? Good morning, Sir. I won't take up your valuable time. Come straight to the point. My executive is launching a 26:44 major offensive against German morale, much more devastating than the leaflet about Goebbels. These are 26:51 actual dead German civilians killed by your bombs. We aim to 26:56 produce millions of them. We're in the process of producing 50 different leaflets of a similar nature. We hope by 27:03 next year you'll have dropped at least 50 million. 27:08 What are their names? Names, Sir. Yes. Who are they?I've no idea, Sir. How do27:13you mean?Herr Gross. An innocent German civilian killed by the27:19brutal RAF. How does that sound?I'd say they would get their backs up, Sir. 27:25 Be more counterproductive. If you'll excuse me, I'm very busy. 27:33 Thank you, Sir. *** Your force was wiped out, and now you want to 11:53 take them over the top again? This time taking with you the entire industrial output of this country? 12:06 I've spent 20 years developing the theory and practice of bombing. 12:12 I developed it with Sornby. Night bombing, navigation, target marking. 12:18 Nobody else gave a damn. I was fighting for decent bomber aircraft 12:23 when everybody else was obsessed with seaplane racing. Not for my personal interest. But 12:31 because I knew a properly equipped and trained bomber force would save this island from blockade, and was the only 12:38 means of taking the war to the enemy, should it happen. And now, it's 12:43 happened. And if I'm going over the top, as you say, I would like to 12:48

Harris was born on 13 April 1892, at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, where his parents were staying while his father George Steel Travers Harris, a government engineer in India, was on home leave.[2] With his father in India most of the time, Harris grew up without a sense of solid roots and belonging; he spent much of his later childhood with the family of a Kent rector, the Reverend C E Graham-Jones, whom he later recalled fondly.[3] Harris was educated at Allhallows School in Devon, while his two elder brothers were educated at the more prestigious Sherborne and Eton, respectively; according to biographer Henry Probert, this was because Sherborne and Eton were expensive and "there was not much money left for number three".[4]

Here are some quotes from Sir Arthur "Bomber" Harris, the British air officer who led the Royal Air Force's "saturation bombing" of Germany during World War II:
"War. The only thing that matters is you win. You bloody well win! And then to hell with it".
"We've been accused of murder. What would we have been accused of had we let Hitler and his bloody gang win the bloody war?".
"War is a battle between heavyweights. The winner is the one that clobbers hardest, with the maximum effort, in the minimum time. That means Berlin!".
"The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them".
"Attacks on cities like any other act of war are intolerable unless they are strategically justified".
"You cannot stop it, and you know it. You have no chance".
We can wreck Berlin from end to end if the Americans will come in with us. It will cost us between 400 and 500 planes. It will cost Germany the war. There are no words with which I can do justice to the air-crew who fought under my command.

Cast: Albert Finney as Churchill, Vanessa Redgrave as Clementine—just a perfect pair! This is a beautifully written film incorporating several real Churchill quotes. The incidents are largely based on fact.
This film is remarkable both for context and relevance. It illustrates the same reluctance of the British people to face reality while simultaneously believing all will be well. The 1930’s were not dissimilar to nowadays which again very few seem to be concerned about. Unfortunately today there is no Churchill to pull us together. Not only is it great entertainment with many well known actors and beautiful scenery but so appropriate. Should be watched by everyone. Thanks. @jeremyrawlins90092 weeks ago @patmillar961 Thanks for your input. I’m a retired British Army Officer who emigrated in 1996 - so am rather out of touch with what is happening in UK - but as I read how people seem to be complaining constantly, the reality is that only by doing something will circumstances improve. To do this we have to realize Britain must WAKE UP TO THE FACT that we are failing. Regenerate a will to lead and instill pride. This will depend on young people being given opportunities to take responsibility and perhaps by so doing others can achieve their potential. Leadership is not always popular but subjugation is far worse. Ignore the easy option. Think of a better place.
