The Claremont Colleges are well-known among the educated elites and graduate school admissions officers (East Coast schools included) but not to the average folks in the US.

In 1950 a stellar high school senior asked his school 康色 what he should study in college. The 康色 told him to study agriculture but he was not interested in. Then the 康色 advised him to study hotel management in Cornell because (1) the student's parents were in the restaurant business (2) Cornell was the best in the field. This student did go to the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell but he did not like it. So in his sophomore year he transferred to Cornell's College of Engieering to study Electrical Engineering. Later he went on to receive a PhD from MIT, became an assistant professor there, and a full professor in UCSD, and eventually founded the telecomm giant Qualcomm.
So, sometimes we have to take 康色的话 with a grain of salt.
Because of their proximity to both the mountains and the ocean, the Claremont Colleges used to be known for their "ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon" tradition, which I do not know if is still alive today.
LAC 有不少"诗和远方"的专业. There is no denying that some liberal arts college students have difficulty obtaining employment upon graduation and the Claremont Colleges are no exception. I personally believe that one's employability depends on the field of study, the academic reputation of the school, and his/her own personality/maturity. Of the 5 colleges in Claremont, graduates from Harvey Mudd have the best emplyment prospects, followed by Claremont MeKenna, and then Pomona. The other 2 colleges in the consortuim leave much to be desired in this area. Liberal arts colleges have many majors/programs that the student has to think twice before s/he selects one if s/he wants to find a job after graduation. Some of these major are ethnic studies, gender studies, feminist studies, anthropology, art conservation, art history, classics, medieval studies, psychology, and religious studies. I am not saying that these are bad majors but the student needs to know what to do with a degree in such a field before jumping in. IMHO, one of the best majors offered by LAC is PPE (Philosophy, Politics, & Economics), which is academically vigorous and offers the students very good employment prospects in business, finance, and consulting (It also lays a solid foundation for the student to pursue an MBA, a PhD, or a law degree in the future).
我们去看过两次，（都是学校没有人的时候）。是唯一去校园看过的学校。可是娃还是放弃了。不想浪费了这些照片，拿出来秀秀，也许有人可以用的上。

他自己因为外出比赛去过一些大的学校，对大学校园的感觉就是应该是那样的。去年夏天我们去看Claremont 各校，因为期望值太高，去看了后觉得很失望……没错，尤其HM...但是我自己还是很喜欢这种安静的感觉……无奈要去上学的不是我，不能强求
虽然没有usc多但也是读书的好地方，心存感激。好像还有新楼在建

加州的好东西可真不少
