Cummins does not recommend synthetic but traditional 15w40 oil on their diesel engines, unless one is in a cold weather. Their recommended oil is Valvoline Premium Blue and the filter is Fleetguard. I always use these two.

5700 miles was low and just a little over a year. It's fine
I normally change oil every two years (every other year). If I drive more and it reaches 15000 miles sooner, I'd change it disregarding for the time lapsed.
