Not every top student wants apply to T5 automatically
The truth is that not every top student wants to apply a T5 college automatically. Some rebels may not apply simply because they are T5. So make sure that the student really wants to apply, not simply because parents or other parents want to apply.
When you decide to apply to a T5, try not to impress with those awards and accomplishments. They already get you to the gate. No one knows the secrets to pass the gate.
学校学生会副主席，几个club主席，副主席。--- this could be a good thing, or a bad sign--- there were similar cases here previously-- the criticisims were that there are too many titles and there is no essential leadership-- because it is impossible for one to run so many clubs with significant input and acheivement.
本人新人，看过几次本坛。看上去很多人对孩子申请学校有好多研究。提出一个case，看看大家怎么看。
小中男，村里公立高中，一千名以内的排名。本届毕业生》450人。基本情况：
1： 第一名， gpa 4/4, unweighted, 5.5+/6 wrighted. 19门AP，除第四年的五门因为online考试，他不想考，其它全部5分。在本地大学学了九门课（申请时完成八门），除一门是 92/100，其他99+/100.
2：ACT： 36 ACT写作： 10. SAT MATH-II800， Physics： 800.
3：学校学生会副主席，几个club主席，副主席。
4： 几个高中联合的教初中，小学孩子的 组织的他们学校的head coach. 实际上他也是联合发起人。但他认为idea是另一个学校的人，申请材料上只写head coach. 也是另一个同一性质的head coach. 校外成人非营利组织volunteer。
5： AIME 3 times， 州piano 得奖2+。州CS比赛冠军队。 一个小乐队的组织者之一。还有其他一些得奖啊，比赛啊。
6： 申请时，有一个XX scholar, 全国总共百十人的那种,但比较新的那种，不到十年时间的scholar。 三月份中旬，拿到一个 XXscholar， 也是全国百十人的那种， a lot more reputable。updated 学校了，但肯定太晚了。
申请时，家长根据对大学申请的理解，和他的情况， 建议了一个EA。 结果deferred. 后来申请十几个私校。（外州公校几个）
对大家的问题是：
这个孩子，EA或ED应该哪个学校？RD应该申请哪些学校？
哪些学校您认为会录取他？ 哪些waitlisted? 哪些rejected？
家长不得不成认，对大学录取一点不懂，下面还有一个。 所以提出来供大家讨论讨论。也许对你我都有帮助。
顺便说句，这么多领导船，忙得过来吗？
这些是假设推荐信不错，作文不错。USA Today的那个Scholar update应该有帮助。

ED中藤靠运气。不要EA大藤。RD就大撒网了。
这个小中男，聪明，会读书，但不喜欢竞争，不愿意抛头露面，不会忽悠。。。老中的影子啊。。。AO一眼看得出来的。合适的学校是重学术的大学。建议走CIT/Uchicago或类似的，比较合适。。。。safe school走小藤和州大，其它靠运气。
本州牛高，T5可能有，否则都没戏

T5全中难度过高，中一个完全可能。
会觉得水。。。然后，体育呢，性格呢，推荐信呢，essay呢。。。都没有介绍嘛

再说也不知是啥州音乐赛，如今国际音乐比赛都满天飞，交钱就能进卡内基音乐厅参加获奖演出。
但是文书也不是想写得好就能写得好的，和问的问题 给的prompts有很大关系。
感觉和学校也是一种缘分：）
