We are a (free) member on Flickr - a photo sharing website used by people around the world. Each year in the Dec holiday season, Flickr will host a "your best shot of the year" contest and select the top 25 among the best to show all. One particular winning photo in the "Top 25 of 2020" caught my eye and my heart. It was titled "Happy Birthday Adam!" by Iwona Podlasińska from Poland (see photo below), with a moving description:
"I remember this day very clearly because things weren’t as they usually are. I remember I didn’t have my car, and I had to take my son to the speech therapist that day, and we took the bus, which was a great adventure for my son as we usually use cars. We came back home earlier than usual. I was doing something around the house when I noticed that my son Adam watched TV, sitting on the floor, petting the cat with one hand. The cat was on the couch. It was a sunny day, and they seemed to shimmer in that light […] I think I asked him to touch the cat’s nose with his nose. I immediately knew I would love this photo."
We also have a (rescued) cat at home and we love him to death. So I took out my drawing board, paper, pencil, and drew this photo using our own cat as a model (he didn't like it, but obeyed as a good boy usually does).
When finished, I sent a photo of my drawing to Iwona, to show my respect and appreciation of her beautiful original photo.
