Most Chinese immigrants born in the 60s and 70s don't need the reminder. My old
friend Bill, for example, is a compulsive saver. He detests waste in all forms
and has found a gold mine of pet peeves in America. He puts all his money in
T-Bills, drives a 210,000-mile Honda, and after 40, stops visiting restaurants
and shopping malls. He saves as if there were no tomorrow. He's been doing it
not for a rainy day but for the next biblical flood!
Of course, his house is a dump and he can't find anything when he needs it:-)
Saving for a rainy day and paying off debts is now a top priority for families.这挺好的
