I just don’t know where those exemptions come from and the county won’t tell you because of privacy law. But the people do pay lower tax. We will definitely pay much higher rate next year.
So if the tax rate is actually calculated by government got, then the rate is much lower. So the google number might not wrong
Your property tax will be the same or less for the rest of your life. There is large homestead exemption depending on where you live. In Williamson County, there is $80,000 exemption.
I know an old couple (over 70 years old) pay $3500 property taxes for property over $650,000 market value. Their property tax is locked and hardly go up.
Of course for 自住房。 徳州没有州税。 For old folks, Texas is good for retirement.
