"稳定" is a relative term. Compare to most of the investments (stocks, mutual funds etc), SPY is a good, broader representation of US economy & it beats majority of the mutual funds. If you are new to investments, 定投SPY or Vanguard S&P 500 ETF is a good way to start.

As you can see there were many years SPY returns are negative.
But if you hold through all the up/downs, it gives you about 8% of annualized returns.
