Job Description - Data Science Internship Description Interns in this position will be tasked with working with a team of data science interns to create and manage political data, conduct research, and authenticate and analyze the data systems and library campaigns, elections, and library specific political initiatives. Interns in this position will also work in conjunction with the Political Director in determining key metrics to track the work and success of the program, and for all internal and external reporting in the department. The position will report to the Political Director and will work in tight coordination with their data counterparts in other projects. Interns may take leadership roles upon completion of training and there are opportunities for full-time employment growing from internships in areas where funding may become available.
Responsibilities Include: Administering, supporting, and setting data standards for the political department’s work with new electoral or voter contact technologies and platforms Conducting voter targeting and analysis for both plan-making and use in electoral tools Creating training documents and materials for Political Department staff and volunteers on data standards and practices Creating a more holistic and integrated data architecture Handling all syncs and integrations between political systems Co-creating metrics for tracking the success and optimization of the political team’s work Creating and generating all political department internal and external reports Take part in creating an environment valuing testing and data-driven practices Mine large amounts of data and perform data analysis to extract useful political and marketing insights Ongoing tracking, monitoring, and periodic follow-up studies Secure final, accurate and validated data files from vendors Use software and other tools to develop analyses that identify patterns, influences, correlations, relationships, predictive factors, and risk factors that provide better situational awareness Creation of models, simulations, and optimization routines Development of data flows and acquisition strategies to facilitate the capture and sharing of data and analytics within the organization Creation of analytics and measurement roadmaps Assist in the creation of grants and donor or client funded projects
Projects There are a wide range of projects available to data science interns. We want to make sure that you get the most out of your internship so we are offering some flexibility and choice in the projects that you may choose to work on. However, there are a few mandatory tasks for all interns including data mining and maintenance and interns are expected to spend a few hours each week on those tasks. The optional high impact projects include;
