The Measurement, Quantitative Methods, and Learning Sciences(MQM-LS) is a doctoral program in the Psychological, Health and Learning Sciences(PHLS) in the College of Education at Universality of Houston, USA. MQM-LS trains students to become leaders in developing and using quantitativeresearch methods to help address significant societal problems.

Content of Training
MQM-LS program provides training in both (1) Measurement &Quantitative Methods (MQM), and (2) Learning Sciences (LS).

Coursework in MQM trains students in various quantitativeresearch methods, including structural equation modeling, hierarchical linearmodeling, longitudinal study, and moderation and mediation analyses to the gainexpertise necessary to design and conduct data appropriate analyses in thefield.

The central themes of the LS courses are social justices andeducational disparities, education in STEM fields, and the foundations oflearning theories and practice on individuals and how their learning, motivational, cognitive, and related processes develop across the lifespan.

Career Goals of Prospective Students
The MQM-LS program is committed to training the next generationof quantitative/educational psychologists.  Graduates are prepared forfaculty positions, for positions as educational research consultants, and forpositions as educational or quantitative psychologists.  For moreinformation, go to our website: http://www.uh.edu/education/degree-programs/mqm-ls-phd/ or watch ourvideo:

Dr. Margit Wiesner (AssociateProfessor): Longitudinal data analysis, latent variable modeling, measurementinvariance of mental health screening instruments, development of delinquencyand other health-risking behaviors, youth violence exposure, and vocationalcareer pathways.
Dr. Sara J Jones (Assistant Professor): a  mix ofqualitative and quantitative research methods to understand how technology isshaping the learning environment, and how we, as educators, can capitalize onthose changes.
Dr. Zenaida Aguirre-Muñoz (Associate Professor): research focuses onissues related to opportunity to learn in multilingual classroom settings and the intersection of cognition, learning, assessment, and languagedevelopment of ELs at the K-12 level.
