On the admission stamp or paper Form I-94, the U.S. immigration inspector records either an admitted-until date or "D/S" (duration of status). If your admission stamp or paper Form I-94 contains a specific date, then that is the date by which you must leave the United State. If you have D/S on your admission stamp or paper Form I-94, you may remain in the United States as long as you continue your course of studies, remain in your exchange program, or qualifying employment. The admitted-until date or D/S notation, shown on your admission stamp or paper Form I-94 is the official record of your authorized length of stay in the United States. You cannot use the visa expiration date in determining or referring to your permitted length of stay in the United States.
I could get this issue resolved and here is what I did (for the sake of others who might need):
Consulted an attorney and explained my situation. Though the I 94 of my spouse has expired, we all have a valid stamped visa and approval notices, the Attorney suggested me to go to the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office and meet with the duty officer who has the authority to correct the I 94s. I carried all the Passports and Approval notices (mine and my dependents), showed to the duty officer and explained what happened. Office simply corrected the I 94.

你能不能ask for extension?
http://www.trackitt.com/usa-discussion-forums/i485-eb/1175610765/mexico-border-experience-to-get-new-i-94-use-advance-parole

google: i-94 expired h4 valid
If you are in the following nonimmigrant categories, you should
file a Form I-539 to extend your stay:
