世卫组织批准紧急使用中国国药集团新冠疫苗
世卫组织负责卫生产品获取事务的助理总干事西芒（Mariângela Simão）表示，国药集团疫苗被加入紧急使用清单，将能够迅速加快那些寻求保护其卫生工作者和风险人群的国家获得疫苗。
她说：“我们敦促这一疫苗的制造商加入新冠疫苗获取机制，为实现更公平的疫苗分配目标做出贡献。”
被列入世卫组织的紧急使用清单是加入新冠疫苗获取机制的先决条件，同时还使各国能够加快自己的监管审批，以进口和管理该种新冠疫苗。
紧急使用评估
在将一种疫苗列入紧急使用清单前，世卫组织对疫苗的质量、安全性和有效性，风险管理计划和适用性，例如冷链要求等方面进行评估。
对于国药疫苗，世卫组织的评估包括了对生产设施的现场检查。
世卫组织表示，国药疫苗（SARS-CoV-2）是一种灭活疫苗。其简单的存储要求使其非常适合于资源匮乏的环境。这也是首款疫苗瓶带有监测标签的疫苗，疫苗瓶上的小标签会随着疫苗暴露于热环境而变色，让卫生工作者知道疫苗是否可以安全使用。
使用建议
与此同时，世卫组织免疫战略咨询专家组也已完成了对该疫苗的审查。根据所有现有证据，世卫组织建议针对18岁及18岁以上成人接种两剂该疫苗，两剂接种之间应间隔三至四周。在所有年龄段的人中，该疫苗对避免出现症状和住院疾病的效力估计为79％。
世卫组织表示，参加国药疫苗临床试验的60岁以上人口较少，因此无法评估这一疫苗对该年龄组的效力。但是，世卫组织不建议使用该疫苗的年龄上限，因为现有数据表明该疫苗可能对老年人具有保护作用。理论上没有理由认为该疫苗在老年人群和年轻人群中具有不同的安全性。因此，世卫组织建议在年龄较大的人群中使用该疫苗的国家进行安全和有效性监测，这将有助于该组织提出更加有力的建议。
列入清单的其他疫苗
针对2019冠状病毒病，世卫组织早先列入紧急使用清单的疫苗包括辉瑞/生物技术疫苗
（2020年12月30日），分别由韩国SKBio公司和印度血清研究所生产的阿斯利康/牛津疫苗（2021年2月15日），美国强生疫苗（2021年3月12日），以及美国莫德纳疫苗（2021年4月30日）。
