This **** is NO JOKE. You have no idea how unprepared Texans are for this weather, it is not even close to funny. Thousands, I mean 10s of Thousands of conservative elders will die in the next 24 hours.
My apartment lost power last night, I was EXTREMLY fortunate to have parents that live 5 minutes away, they are one of the few grids with power since a hospital is very close. All the grids around my parents neighborhood are out. My apartment complex right now is completely out of power and the fire alarms are going off, I was freezing and hungry and in the dark this morning at 11am, another 24 hours and elderly will be dropping like flys.
My brother and law is cutting down trees in his backyard and bringing firewood to his elder neighbors.
40-50% of people in ATX are without power and 18 degrees is once in 25 year here. No one is remotely prepared.
For a brief moment I was somewhat optimistic hearing about the national guard being pulled out that they would you know maybe help with de-icing the natural gas plants and distribution lines, maybe de-ice some wind generators, maybe bring in lots of huge filthy army diesel generators to ensure critical infrastructure is powered, or at least drive around the natural gas/wind turbine people that would fix things and at a minimum help with logisitics. You know, actually get the electric grid, which is in no way compromised, to work again.
