1. for coolant loss. Do you live in a hot region or high altitude? (Arizona or Colorado?) This depends on the design of the cooling system. Toyota has a discharge pipe that blow off coolant slightly when overheating. However, newer Toyota runs at pretty low engine temperature after they switch to 0w20 oil. Also the Toyota has a clear tank thus make coolant level checking easy. I suppose your dealer would have checked it at every maintenance, thus you should never encounter low coolant. BMW, for example, use a pressurized system, the expansion tank cover releases pressure at about 1.5 atm. There should be zero coolant loss even after multiple years. Any observable coolant loss indicates a problem. I am not sure how the XC90 is designed. Open the oil filler cap, flip it over, if you see white goo, sticky stuff, on it. Have you car checked ASAP. Also be sure the guy on the highway filled in exactly the same type of coolant. Different color coolant uses different additives and can not be mixed. 2. For the brake rotor, if the dealer said you only need to replace brake pad (after they check it), you do not have to replace the rotor when a non- dealer tells you so. The rotor has minimum thickness stamped on it. Different car has different tolerance. Even the front and rear wheel of the same car can have different tolerance since the front brake typically works harder than the rear one as the car's weight shift to the front when braking.
Assuming the XC90 uses an open cooling system, a hot garage might explain it if your dealer did not do a good job inspecting periodically. A non- defective car mostly boils off coolant when off. A car generally keep its coolant temperature at 80 C to 100 C when running. One has to push the car very hard to push it above coolant boiling temperature, which is 120C assuming 50:50 mixture in a non-pressurized system. When the car is shut off, the cooling fan stops, no air flow at the radiator, the water pump if belt driven is also down. The engine oil, turbo, and especially engine block all much hotter than the coolant, this will cause the coolant to get hotter and heated very unevenly. Losing a bit of coolant in this situation is normal. It was a good idea to shut it off immediately when the coolant was low. The low coolant float mostly likely reside at the bottom of the coolant tank. You never want your coolant tank to be completely empty, even though you still have a lot of coolant in the radiator. The problem is air will be sucked in your cooling system as coolant circulate. Air columns in the cooling loop can kill a turbo charged engine within minutes.

人大哥，过来问了情况，一顿冷却液就给灌上了。我的问题是：
1. 上次保养在dealer保养是在2019年3月，这个冷却液会消耗完么？这个是不是和
机油一样，不应该消耗的？况且最近4个月这个车几乎没有开。车库里也没有漏冷却液
的痕迹。
2. 上次去dealer要求换brake pads，问了其他的维修点，有的说rotor要一起换。
这个应该怎么判断？我看有人推荐re-surface rotor即可。

Coolant expansion tank上的盖子有调压功能，压强大了会放掉少量冷91液到空中，四年下来放掉不少，所以你收到警告，冷却液少了一些不会伤车，以后每年自己看一下coolant expansion tank，少了就添一点，要用volvo指定的冷却液
Rotor不用每次换，我一般每换两次刹车皮换一次rotor

有个冷却液的细管子可能接头有渗漏，不至于会滴到地上，但是还是会减少。
有 TJ 的，要求 dealer 看看 Volvo 出钱给修不

这一代XC90暂时来说比较被逅病的是后轮刹车和刹车盘的磨损特别快。我们的5万mile
车已经换了两次刹车盘和brake pad了。第一次2万mile左右换的。当时走了warranty。第二次是5万mile service时dealer换的，自己掏钱花了5百多。

锁中差之后，VSC OFF是正常的。

问个门锁相关问题，Lexus GX后门tailgate打不开了，估计是要换锁了。
在没法打开门的情况下，我大概从里面把门板拆下来，然后如何把锁拆下来，锁还咬在那里，有机械的强制打开锁的机关吗。
Pilot Assist用刹车挺狠的而且是后轮, 30k需要换刹车片正常. 至于rotor你可以找个靠谱的第三方shop确认一下. 买3rd party rotor也不贵, 原厂的话官方有30% rebate, 打customer service电话要一下就好
冷却液就真的不好说了尤其这么久不开车, 补满之后观察一下吧. 其实也不用那么紧张, 如果是刚刚低于min线的话至少还是能开回家的..
没错，窝窝的确够烂，我经常飙车急停刹车都还不需要换。。。刚刚这个周末，我才帮朋友换了highlander的前后刹车皮, 11年的车超过10w迈，第一次换。。。

一般是后轮两个轮子的 pad 和 rotor 了，不会建议只换一个轮子的。

说后轮那肯定就只是后轮。他们一般说 1 axle，就是后轮两个轮子，
只换 pad 不换 rotor 这个价差不多。
一对 rotor 成本都要 150 至少了，
labor 至少 1 小时 120 吧
不过你找找别的店也能换，用好点的 rotor pad，不用去 dealer。
其实 DIY 也不难。
