Illumina is recruiting a talented individual for an Associate Scientist II position in assay development. This person will build new technologies and workflows for Illumina as part of a multi-functional research team. This is an opportunity to work on fundamental science with the backing of Illumina’s resources for data generation to improve the accuracy, throughput, and reproducibility of genome interpretation, thereby removing barriers to clinical adoption of whole genome sequencing. A strong background and hands-on experience in saturation mutagenesis and experience with Illumina library prep sequencing is desired.
Requirements BS or Advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Genomics or related field with at least 5 years of research experience. Desired hands-on experience with molecular biology and next-generation sequencing but not limited to: RNA and DNA extraction, cloning, PCR, lentiviral packaging and transduction, mammalian cell culture, transfection, florescence microscope, FACS, single cell sequencing (scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq etc), NGS with Illumina and PacBio platforms. Ability to plan and execution of complex experiments and handle large amount of samples. Strong understanding of scientific principles and ability to effectively identify technical issues, troubleshoot and propose resolutions. Highly motivated, detail oriented individual with exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills. Solid verbal/written communication skills. Location: Position currently open in the San Francisco Bay Area. At Illumina, we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace by cultivating an environment in which everyone contributes to our mission. Built on a strong foundation, Illumina has always been rooted in openness, collaboration, and seeking alternative views and perspectives to propel innovation in genomics. We are proud to confirm a zero-net gap in pay, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or race. We also have several Employee Resource Groups (ERG) that deliver career development experiences, increase cultural awareness, and demonstrate our collective commitment to diversity and inclusion in the communities we live and work. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.
