Helicopters circled College Park and police K-9s scoured the woods near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for hours Thursday as multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a massive manhunt for an Arizona murder suspect who escaped police custody while being taken back to Phoenix.
Officials said J’Saan Carlos Strover, 20, was shackled at the waist and handcuffed in front of his body when he ran from two deputies at a rental car facility adjacent to the airport and escaped into a nearby wood line. He was last seen Thursday morning in the 4000 block of Global Gateway Connector.
Strover is wanted in Maricopa County, Arizona, on murder and aggravated assault charges in connection with a Feb. 19 double shooting that left one man dead and another injured at a Phoenix bar, Arizona-based AZfamily.com reported. The man killed was identified by authorities as 32-year-old Walter Wood.
