我觉得这个law可能是很久以前制定的。是不是应该与时俱进？
你有绿卡也没有人有权利要求你出示绿卡。警察可以拦停你，但必须有reasonal
suspision，才需要出示ID。一般的怀疑不是reasonable suspision。想不出来在什么
情况下才会要求出示绿卡。除非你越境，也不会要求看绿卡。

看来99.9%的人对这个话题都理解的不正确。加上DHS 的Enforcement并不严格， 导致
人们对不随身携带registration document习以为常。另外各州对immigrants 的法律法规不大一样，例如深蓝州就比较宽松也助长了这个现象。
现在理解了：不管你是visa holders， conditional resident(比如两年绿卡）, 或是LPR （Lawful Permanent Resident)，14岁活18岁以上，理论上必须随身携带
registration （绿卡，I-94，EAD，或者有admit stamp 的护照）。如果觉得怕丢失，至少拍张照片存在手机里或者带一个复印件放在钱包里，万一遇到事情发生会帮助你争取时间去回家拿原件。

深蓝州感受不到。华州连驾照都不查身份的，直接一次给四年。

三年前的暑假老婆驾车和几个朋友家庭去她朋友家在TEXAS的牧场玩儿。路上在米墨边
境处还真遇上officer，查他们一行人共三辆车的证件。当时一个车是是白人家（美籍
，古巴二代），一个车是智利人家庭 （visa），一个是我们家（visa）。除了大人的
驾照没有任何可以证明合法身份的文件。一共八个孩子们都在18岁以下。那个白妇朋友非常恼怒觉得被羞辱了一样。美国公民是不用随身带身份证件。跟officier争吵了起来，最后officer给了我老婆和智利妈妈一张纸说下次带文件出门。也没罚款。
查了一下：补办丢失绿卡需要6 到9.5 个月，申请费540刀。丢失绿卡补办的时间和成
本都太高
我不是律师也不具备法律方面的知识。以下只是我的想法，不作为任何建议和行为指导1. 日常： 只带驾照。估计你一辈子也碰不到一个DHS/ICE的人。更谈不上把你拦下查
问。碰上买彩票的运气遇上一次，大不了交100 刀罚款了事。。手机里保留绿卡正反面照片。法律上不允许复印身份文件，但没说不允许拍照吧。
2. 出入境：随身携带绿卡

另外，绿卡持有者是没有投票权的。这也许是这个法律一直没有更改的缘故吧。Who

德州靠近美墨边境的地方，高速上经常有check point。如果你是在德州上学的，学校
就会说，如果去靠近边境的地方玩,比如big bend之类的，必须带着护照，以减少麻烦
。虽然，没听说过真的被逮起来的吧，但是在check point墨迹几个小时也是很扫兴的
。
理论上是必须随身携带immigration documents的，但实际如果你不靠近边境的话也没
必要这么搞。靠近边境还是带上，避免不必要的麻烦。
