卫报指出，写信给川普的男子为葛瑞农（Mark Grenon），他自称是「创世纪II」（
Genesis II）这个团体的「主教」。
设于佛罗里达州的「创世纪II」对外声称是一个教会组织，实际上却是靠推销二氧化氯赚钱的制造商和经销商。葛瑞农把二氧化氯贴上「神气矿物解方」（miracle mineral solution,MMS）的标签，号称可以治疗99%的疾病，包括癌症、疟疾、爱滋，甚至自闭
症。
葛瑞农在信中告诉川普，二氧化氯是一种「神奇解方」可以消灭体内99%的病原体，还
说二氧化氯可消灭人体内的新型冠状病毒。二氧化氯是一种强力漂白剂，应用在纺织等工业用途上，一旦误喝可能会要人命。
报导指出，葛瑞农致函白宫才没几天，川普昨天就在白宫例行防疫简报会上大谈将消毒剂注入体内杀病毒，引发卫教轩然大波。
自新冠肺炎（COVID-19）疫情爆发以来，「创世纪II」就一直对外推销「神奇矿物解方」可以治疗冠状病毒疾病。他们建议包括孩童在内的使用者，只要把3到6滴的二氧化氯加入水中稀释，然后就可喝下。
葛瑞农19日在他每周线上电台节目里，朗读写给川普的信函「亲爱的总统先生，我祈祷你会读到这封信，并且着手推动」。
