Not in MI. My wife was / is a member of the original FB group, because my business was forced shut, and may cause a business bankruptcy, even though it consists of myself and my 1 partner. We make a product for the construction industry, and can install it with no customer contact. It was truly a grass roots group of business owners who felt that they could safely operate their businesses with MINIMAL risk to themselves, or others. The group got the ear of state reps, who then went to gov Witmer to discuss options. It appeared to be making progress, until it wasn't. The state senate and house were asked by Witmer to extend the State of Emergency for 3 mos., they weren't comfortable with what they were getting as feedback, so they only extended it until the end of April. In hindsight, it appears that many of the seemingly random closures and lockdowns appear to have been added to punish them. After the extended shutdown, and the closing of construction businesses, landscaping businesses, and randomness of the things that could and couldn't be sold, that original FB group grew very quickly. It was over 100k by the end of the first week. Then the idea of the gridlock protest was floated, and it took off. As with any protest, there will always be a fringe that is completely wacko, but the original plan was to stay in their cars and do a peaceful protest. The main framework of the protest was that she was infringing on our civil liberties, and not following our constitution, and not using ANY cost benefit analysis in her decision making. After the MI protest, someone else took it up, and sent it out to the other states to follow. The last I heard, the MI FB group was over 300k.
