不用担心,you won't be bothered too much by the liberal idealism that dotted the story line. This is Hollywood alright, but politics was never the focus of this show. They don't want to get too political either, that'll piss off half of the viewership! Instead, it shows people how humanized, and even interesting, politics can be. Debates on politics can appear from time to time,
Its walk-and-talk storytelling technique is a milestone, as many know. It's also thought-provoking, humorous, intelligent, and patriotic. Most importantly, it depicts a, fictional, world where politics is not ugly, hateful, paranoid, extreme, or life-and-death. It's just, well, differences in opinions.
Anyway, I consider it the best TV series I've ever seen in my life hands down. I highly recommend it to everybody, especially those who like to watch PBS. Yes, it takes some intellectual capacity to appreciate its greatness.
Following is a clip from this show. Without knowing any context or anything, one can still feel the powerfulness through the music and the picture.
It's just a great entertainment. It shows you how politics is not ugly or hateful or resentful, as you see it. On the contrary, politics is just some differences in opinions. You can treat it with humor, humaneness, respect, or even love.
