Associate Scientist III, iPSC Culture Cambridge, MA Full-time Department: Research & Development Region: US Job Description The Translational Cellular Sciences group seeks a highly motivated Associate Scientist III with expertise in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture and differentiation, and molecular biology. The primary responsibility for this position will be to contribute to the production of iPSC-derived cell types and support neurological diseases with molecular biology. The preferred candidate would have hands-on experience with the culture of undifferentiated human iPSC and in vitro differentiation to oligodendrocytes.
Qualifications BS/MS degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 2-5 years of laboratory experience in academia or industry. Please note a PhD/PostDoc candidate is overqualified for this role. Hands-on experience with undifferentiated human iPSC culture and maintenance is REQUIRED Hands-on experience with in vitro differentiation of iPSC, preferably neurons and/or oligodendrocytes is REQUIRED Cellular biology skills including immunocytochemistry, high-content imaging, image analysis, western blot Molecular biology skills including mammalian cell DNA/RNA extraction, PCR / RT-PCR / qPCR An understanding of molecular biology technologies including vector design, cloning, DNA prep and CRISPR genome editing, preferably with hands-on experience Ability to follow SOP, execute, analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot experiments Accurate and precise documentation of all experimental procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Good oral and written communication skills Team player and ability to work in a matrixed environment Ability to work weekends and holidays as required due to nature of rotational onsite bench schedule
Additional Information Functioning out of the Biogen USA Headquarters in Cambridge, MA, the Associate Scientist III is a bench focused scientist role that will be skilled in stem cell (iPSC) research production activities. This role requires the successful candidate to work onsite, 6 hours or as otherwise requested, on a rotational basis with their team. Weekend and holiday work may be required to meet the needs of the cell production schedule.
