有些地方的政策是这样的
有tenure-track，也有teaching track
教学序列的叫Teaching AP，Term AP, Professor of Practice之类
也是助理教授职称，负责教本科课程
但是不能升associate或拿tenure
其实本来research school拿不到也是去teaching school
留下双方都不用折腾了

是医学院吧？医学院十年拿tenure是常有的事。
有些地方 tenure 和 promotion 是分开的，如你所说，文章房顶不行，但是人缘好，
教课好，也给tenure, tenured assistant professor.

在我们学校，tenure 和 promotion 是两回事。多数人是tenure 和 promotion 一起申请。有的人case比较弱，就只申请tenure，不申请promotion，等饭碗保住以后，再慢
慢申请promotion。
看学校规矩吧 大多数学校不是你想分开就能分开的
