Jenny, 介绍自己的“失败的”经历,看到的中国毕业生常常踏入的误区。尤其是”
tell me about yourself”,不是重复简历,要有自己很清晰的卖点。

Coffee, 介绍自己当年面试住院医,以及2014年面试Fellow, 走了30多个项目,“名校几日游”。近两年参与住院医和肥佬的面试以及Rank,攒了几年经验,现在给大家分享。

CQ,介绍自己申请麻醉的过程,曾经被“名校情节”影响,Rank list 还出了些问题。但成功进入麻醉是因为自己的工作经验。“我知道中国和美国两种情况,我看到中国和美国医疗行业的差别,但很多共通之处。我可以自己做很多Project。”
面试时,讲当时自己的想法,讲详细的工作,提到一点点的细节,包括用的腰麻针的不同。给出数字。
被问答在美国看到的困难:patient is large. But, some patient has very
distinct figure, anatomically easy.
提醒大家,Preliminary program will be interested in how much iv you get from the advanced programs. 想好怎么回答。

下面是Jenny,Coffee涉及的一下要点:
Coffee: prepare your interview as planting a tree! You have a main stem,
have a lot of branches and leaves in your pocket, present them when there
is an opportunity.
Talk about stories:
For example, I like cooking, they all like my cooking. Send fried noodle to on call room in a stormy night. Party in my home to enjoy my food and do
board review.
Start story low key, then go into impressive selling points. 故事要来源于生
活,高于生活。
如何说自己优点:reliable, 之类的,不能直接说,换一种方式:问个问题“
医院特别近的地方有没有便宜的住处,有没有走路10分钟的,我住的近,帮别人,成了习惯了“

四类面试:
1. 大牛,来了最好
2. 喜欢,能来最好
3. 还行,替补用吧
4. 其他:牛人LOR,个人好奇
不幸落入第三类,要想办法在individualize, highly personalized 上下功夫。

面试核心:每个人特点不同,要以自己的本质来;由内而外的自信,包装好!
一定要精神饱满的进入状态!热情和正能量!High 的音乐伴随自己。有一锤子买卖的
感觉!
American culture: 照着奥斯卡得主们的演讲模式I have been lucky….,I really
appreciate…(even for a minor help) 。 报喜不报忧,前半生描述的轻松愉快。

面试要很清楚Intern 要做到的:
1. 责任心:小故事
2. Honesty: 编数据死罪
3. 勤快:勤快而无牢骚
4. Self-learner: 自己会找答案。如果不太sure时,肯定会请示,而且我是带着问题和查到的选择题答案来请示的

不同项目rank方式不同,
1. 分组型:A组;B组;C组;进入A组是目标,看个人面试表现,个人感情!一人否定,肯定完蛋。一人力挺,肯定非常重要。尤其是有分量的,爱说话的attending很有
用。Rank meeting 讨论时, 有些有意思的非医学故事才能留下关键印象。Negative
talk would move you down to the next class.
2. 打分系统:根据毕业国家/学校,YOG,Step 分数, 临床经验(ICU/门诊/病房
);面试表现;这个系统对于外国学生非常不占优势,但用的很普遍。

1. 面试出错了,问你是否有自知之明:想办法自救吧
2. Too tired to talk, come to some easy IV questions: 要给良性提神故事

准备2-5个小Weakness, 轻松愉快的,还要有solution的。讲清楚 目标是什么,转到其他话题

People who are difficult to work with:
1. Dishonest people
2. A co-worker is lazy, everyone thinks him a difficult person to work
with. To me, It is not difficult to work with him, because I cover his work, not being late on mine. Key point to sale: I am an efficient and
hardworking worker.

How to explain why switching from research to clinical work:
1. Research is very interest. However, Clinical work is many dreams. My
plan is ….(Clear plan of future)
2. I was clinical physician before, research is the way to come to the U.S, to get my green card. I enjoy research. However, my best choice is
clinical work. Now I am sitting in front you with my persistent and passion.

Ask PD question:
1. The question you know the answer.
2. Let the PD be proud of.
3. Let the PD like you more.
If the Board passing rate is 100%, you can ask.
Tell me more about ABC, which the PD would be very proud of. 找到让对方高兴
的问题
学区怎样?房子贵不贵?走路5分钟到的地方,体现我是“包身工”
图书馆怎样?我们都有权限看到新的文献吧 (每个项目都必备的条件)
准备3-5个问题,准备小故事

Big failure in life?
---wow, that is a big question? How do you define failure? (Buy sometime for you to think)
Tell you the truth, I have been lucky, cannot recall any failure. Since you asked, I had a patient during my extern, we were not able to save him. Even though no one was able to identify the cause, I should be able to tell with my previous experience. I see that is my biggest failure.

Mistake you made in clinical setting: tell emotional soft mistake.
---for example, I was at ICU on call. A patient is in his 90s, I provided
all treatment options, but I did not provide them my professional opinion,
so the family chose to have full code on patient.
I should guide their decision. I will do better now

With experience as a CRC—clinical research coordinator:
----focus on talking about patient contact; Have people skills; Have
clinical experience (i.e. Taking physical and history); Detail oriented. 科学严谨,粗心是不能容忍的 for patient care.
