I published a paper about the evolution algorithm many years ago.
According to my simulation and the proof to a math theorem, the DNA population evolution can be accelerated by a designed special DNA sample.
That method can be used to accelerate optimal algorithms’ convergencewithout changing the major code module——you just need to change the data by adding a special sample that is generated by another code module in each iteration.
Now, the questions are: (1) did we find more and more “special” Coronavirus patients? [ for example , Dr li, he is very young and the test result for him was negative many times] (2) what is the implication of those special patients for the whole virus population’s evolution process ?

As you already knew, the authors of the newest article about this topic said their analysis did not include the whole RNA. Thus the 99% was not about the whole RNA comparing.
The source identification of SARS in 2003 was a major milestone. The two teams actually created a new virus research branch.
By no means the source identification of nCOV would be easy. Even for the transmission of nCOV, people did not know so much yet.
Without interaction cooperation and information transparency like in 2003, it will be extremely difficult to make progress.

If you want to learn the method,you can try to search my old post. I used to answer others' ANN question by using the same "special samples (or Fake data) injection" trick. It might straightforwardly simplify your DL software's architecture under complicate optimization constraints.
