The Department of Geography at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is recruiting for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure
track position at the rank of Lecturer to begin August 2017. The department seeks a dynamic, highly innovative instructor who will substantially
contribute to its long-term strategic plan for growing the field of
Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Primary responsibilities include
teaching, specifically developing a series of introductory and advanced GIS courses (e.g., GIS programming, Web GIS, Geo-visualization) at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional duties will include assisting with the student learning outcomes assessment, certificate administration,
and departmental outreach and service. The appointment is renewable and is
eligible for promotion.

The Department of Geography has 15 active faculty members, who conduct
teaching and research in a broad spectrum of areas, including physical
geography, human-environment interactions, medical geography, and economic
geography. It offers BS/BA, MS/MA, and PhD degree tracks, including online
and distance learning options for coursework. The department has two
computer-lab classrooms and provides a high-speed on-line computing
environment via UFAPPs, where any student and faculty can access software
applications, such as ArcGIS, GeoDa, and ENVI, from any computing device,

An earned master's degree in Geography, Geographical Information Science, or a closely related discipline with the relevant coursework, is required. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated track record of high
quality college- or university-level teaching experience in GIS.

An earned doctorate in Geography or a closely related field is preferred.
Experience with online instruction is desired, but not required. Long-term
interest in teaching and creating innovative courses will enhance an
application.

The final candidate will be required to provide an official transcript to
