i wouldn't knock down the lower portion of the wall. the door to the stairs swings out against the wall at the moment. if you get rid of that wall, it will be awkward, and cause some issues on furniture or art piece layout. the upper portion of the wall is there to define the room, and help with furniture placement. i would keep it. but it doesn't hurt to get rid of it either.
我提议１。全敲掉，显的宽。但是缺点是NOOK那个小角落有到地下室的楼梯还有一个小卫生间。不知道影不影响美观?
２。把７２＂变大点，更OPEN点。
被LG全否决，他的理由是family room，是一个room，需要隔开.
还说如果这样合理的话，builder为省材料为什么不这样设计？

最近看了上一个房子也是有这么一块，好在没有mm这么烦恼，一边有个矮墙，另一边本来就没有东西，要是房子到手我也要把它打掉，我喜欢宽敞的感觉

现在的新房子的格局差不多都是都是open to FR的，老一点的房子才喜欢做堵墙。
