For first-time parents, the best time to find a doctor for your child is before birth. Your pediatrician will need to come check your baby at the hospital before he or she is discharged.
Start asking family, friends and co-workers -- and even from your own healthcare provider -- for recommendations in your second trimester, and begin calling and interviewing in your third trimester. A typical interview takes 15-20 minutes and is either free or at a nominal cost. If a physician is unwilling or "too busy" to meet with you, take that as a sign that they're not the best candidate to handle your child's care.
Some interview questions are designed as much to give you information as to help you decide whether you are compatible and comfortable with this person.
Here are some interview questions to get you started: 1. What are the office hours? Do you have evening or Saturday hours? 2. If I called for a routine visit right now, how soon could I be seen? 3. How much time is allowed for a routine visit? 4. Will you or other physicians/nurses in the practice discuss health problems over the phone? Do you charge for such "telephone time?" 5. What happens if I have an emergency outside of office hours? 6. Are you a member of the health plan I belong to? 7. Does my health plan provide you with financial incentives? 8. How must I pay for care? 9. Will my child see you each time we have an appointment, or will other physicians in the practice see him/her? 10. If my child needs hospitalization, which hospital will he/she be admitted to? 11. How do you feel about obtaining a second opinion? 12. What is your medical training and where did you go to medical school? 13. Are you board certified in your specialty?
Questions of philosophy? It's important to have a healthcare provider you feel comfortable with -- after all, this person will be making important decisions about your child. Here are some additional topics you might want to bring up during the interview, focusing on how he or she gels with your philosophy. ? What are your views on breastfeeding? ? When do you recommend starting solid foods? ? Do you recommend circumcision? ? What are your thoughts on vaccinations? ? How often do you prescribe antibiotics?
Overview and assessment ?After the interview, it's time to take stock of what you learned. Make some notes and consider a few more topics, including: ? Do you have a compatible philosophy on medical care? ? How do your personalities and styles of handling situations mesh? ? Do you feel comfortable with this person making healthcare decisions for your child? ? How did your child react to the doctor? ? Were the office staff friendly and helpful? ? Was the waiting room and office clean and child-friendly? ? How convenient was the location? Was parking or public transport available?
Labor Bag Suggestions The Labor bag you will take with you when you go into the hospital or birth center.
Personal toiletries (also used postpartum): Mouthwash, Breath mints, Toothbrush &Toothpaste (for partner too!) 牙线 o Lip balm/chapstick o Bodysoap /gel 浴球, shower cap o Shampoo/conditioner o Deodorant o Facial soap and moisturizer o BodyLotion o Prescription medications you're taking o Glasses or Contact lenscase/lens supplies o HairBrush/comb o Barrettes/PonytailHolders/Hairbands for long hair 还带了自己的旅行电吹风
? Watch with a second hand for timing contractions – should be using this before going to the hospital ? Waterproof pads for the car ride (if your water breaks – a beach towel over a plastic garbage bag will also work) ? Admission forms/papers (if not already done and on file at hospital) ? PED's contact information ? Health insurance card & ID ? Two copies of your Birth plan ? Camera and/or video camera – extra memory cards, CDs, DVD or tapes as needed, extra batteries or power cord to charge ? Cell phone and battery charger or Calling Card for Long Distance Calls ? List of contact names and numbers to share the good news ? Cash for vending machines for your partner (change and small bills) ? Lollipops (for dry mouth) ? Focal point (if using a photo or something paper you will hold, laminate it) 这个我觉得没啥用... ? Lotion, Oil and/or powder (cornstarch works well) for massage ... Aromatherapy oils and cotton balls or pads ... Tennis balls or massage tools CDs of favorite music or MP3 player ? Change of clothes for your partner ? Snacks for your partner (protein or meal replacement bars) ? Thick socks if your feet get cold (not white – might get bloody) hospital may provide ? Eyeshade (might use to help rest) ? Books/magazines ? Baby Book if you want the foot prints done by the nurse when she does the paperwork (check with hospital during tour if they do foot prints) ? Anything else that brings you comfort or is relaxing!

Postpartum Bag Suggestions The Postpartum bag you can leave in your car until after the baby is born.
For Mom: ? Maxipads (Hospital will provide some – ask for extras to take home - but you may prefer your own) ? Underwear (Hospital may provide disposable maternity underwear, they’re surprising comfortable and you don’t have to wash them! Ask for extras to take home.) ? Bathrobe & Nursing Pajamas (Hospital gowns are great for nursing and you don’t have to wash them! Not enough coverage? Put a second one on backwards to cover your back side.;) ? Nursing (sleep/comfort) bras & breast pads ? Socks & Slippers ? Loose, comfortable outfit to go home (You’ll still feel about 6 months pregnant.)
For baby: ? Going-home outfit with hat/cap Hospital may provide the following – ask during hospital tour: o Clothes o Hat/Cap o Diapers & Wipes

http://www.huaren.us/dispbbs.asp?boardid=380&id=594001&page=1&star=299 。

Interviewing Doctors and Pediatricians
Here are some interview questions to get you started:
1. What are the office hours? Do you have evening or Saturday hours?
2. If I called for a routine visit right now, how soon could I be seen?
3. How much time is allowed for a routine visit?
4. Will you or other physicians/nurses in the practice discuss health problems over the phone? Do you charge for such "telephone time?"
Overview and assessment
?After the interview, it's time to take stock of what you learned. Make some notes and consider a few more topics, including:
? Do you have a compatible philosophy on medical care?
? How do your personalities and styles of handling situations mesh?
? Do you feel comfortable with this person making healthcare decisions for your child?
? How did your child react to the doctor?
? Were the office staff friendly and helpful?
? Was the waiting room and office clean and child-friendly?
? How convenient was the location? Was parking or public transport available?
Personal toiletries (also used postpartum):
Mouthwash, Breath mints, Toothbrush &Toothpaste (for partner too!) 牙线
o Lip balm/chapstick
o Bodysoap /gel 浴球, shower cap
o Shampoo/conditioner
o Deodorant
o Facial soap and moisturizer
o BodyLotion
o Prescription medications you're taking
o Glasses or Contact lenscase/lens supplies
o HairBrush/comb
o Barrettes/PonytailHolders/Hairbands for long hair
? Watch with a second hand for timing contractions –
should be using this before going to the hospital
? Waterproof pads for the car ride (if your water breaks
– a beach towel over a plastic garbage bag will also
work)
? Admission forms/papers (if not already done and on
file at hospital)
? PED's contact information
? Health insurance card & ID
? Two copies of your Birth plan
? Camera and/or video camera – extra memory cards,
CDs, DVD or tapes as needed, extra batteries or power cord to charge
? Cell phone and battery charger or Calling Card for Long Distance Calls
? List of contact names and numbers to share the good news
? Cash for vending machines for your partner (change and small bills)
? Lollipops (for dry mouth)
? Focal point (if using a photo or something paper you
will hold, laminate it) 这个我觉得没啥用...
? Lotion, Oil and/or powder (cornstarch works well) for
massage ...
? Aromatherapy oils and cotton balls or pads ...
? Tennis balls or massage tools
? CDs of favorite music or MP3 player
? Change of clothes for your partner
? Snacks for your partner (protein or meal replacement
bars)
? Thick socks if your feet get cold (not white – might
get bloody) hospital may provide
? Eyeshade (might use to help rest)
? Books/magazines
? Baby Book if you want the foot prints done by the
nurse when she does the paperwork (check with
hospital during tour if they do foot prints)
? Anything else that brings you comfort or is relaxing!

For Mom:
? Maxipads (Hospital will provide some – ask for extras to take home - but you may prefer your own)
? Underwear (Hospital may provide disposable maternity underwear, they’re surprising comfortable and you don’t have to wash them! Ask for extras to take home.)
? Bathrobe & Nursing Pajamas (Hospital gowns are great for nursing and you don’t have to wash them! Not enough coverage? Put a second one on backwards to cover your back side.;)
? Nursing (sleep/comfort) bras & breast pads
? Socks & Slippers
? Loose, comfortable outfit to go home (You’ll still feel about 6 months pregnant.)
For baby:
? Going-home outfit with hat/cap
? Hospital may provide the following – ask during hospital tour: o Clothes o Hat/Cap o Diapers & Wipes

这期costco的coupon有huggies 9块钱off
