看到Trump 要砍55% budget的时候还抱着很大的希望觉得congress 不会砍得太极端，结果现在NSF自己就屈服了看上去不是个好兆头，周围很多同事要转行了。。。 唉。。。

基础科研就是为爱发电，拿的钱勉强够吃饭房租。
显示屏显卡、粉笔草稿纸、螺丝元件、Matlab CAD，能花多少钱。
粒子对撞机、超级计算机，这作为超级大国也不能没有吧。
国家利益没用。 必须要对每一个议员和参议员有具体的利益和影响力。 要落实在人头上这种。
那这军费是准备拿来干啥呢？内战？
我现在还能苟活一段时间，不过如果没有funding我肯定拿不到tenure。我有几个合作者和朋友在研究所，估计整个研究所要关门，还有一些挂靠大学但是是soft money的研究机构（比如哥大的Lamont Lab）估计也要走很多人。。
对大多数人来说肯定有艰难的upskill和repackage的过程，现在这世道也不好找工作，所以才会人心惶惶各种焦虑啊。。
给NSF多拨钱能带来更多选票吗，对下次选举有用吗？不能为啥干？

是啊，没有最差只有更差，全靠同行衬托。
看新总统是谁了。万一是饭死那种估计更离谱。Oklahoma 的学校已经开始把2020选举被偷写进美国现代史教材了。并且要求老师必须要教新冠起源一中国实验室。
虽然NSF 跟我沾不到边 但是唇亡齿寒 其他funding也都要被砍 所以我还蛮感同身受的 PHD毕业做AP 比进业界转的起薪就低 比如我的第一年工资就比我教的本专业本科生的median income多不到一万 perks 却少多了 但是我这份工必须要读个博士才能做 不然就低一档Level进来（非tenure track, lecturer) top硕士+ 5-10年工作经验比本科生工资median income还低 可以想见的 低一档的这个level常年招不到人 而且以后工资差距逐年还会拉大 所图就是做research 自己决定做什么研究的自由 人生钱够花以后 这份自由是无价的 如果没有这份研究的自由 谁会放弃伺候一个老板的工作 去伺候300个本科生 让300个本科生给你打分 图啥呢 钱还少
这样搞，两三年后美国还有钱？
美国本来就没钱了啊。
