You qualify for spousal benefits if: Your spouse is already collecting retirement benefits. You have been married for at least a year. You are at least 62 years old (unless you are caring for a child who is under 16 or disabled, in which case the age rule does not apply). Depending on your age upon claiming, spousal benefits can range from 32.5 percent to 50 percent of your spouse's primary insurance amount — the retirement benefit to which they are entitled at full retirement age, or FRA. Google "spousal social security" for more details.
A spouse can choose to retire as early as age 62, but doing so may result in a benefit as little as 32.5 percent of the worker's primary insurance amount. A spousal benefit is reduced 25/36 of one percent for each month before normal retirement age, up to 36 months. If the number of months exceeds 36, then the benefit is further reduced 5/12 of one percent per month. For a spouse who is not entitled to benefits on his or her own earnings record, this reduction factor is applied to the base spousal benefit, which is 50 percent of the worker's primary insurance amount. For example, if the worker's primary insurance amount is $1,600 and the worker's spouse chooses to begin receiving benefits 36 months before his or her normal retirement age, we first take 50 percent of $1,600 to get an $800 base spousal benefit. Then we compute the reduction factor, which is 36 times 25/36 of one percent, or 25 percent. Applying a 25 percent reduction to the $800 amount gives a spousal benefit of $600. Thus, in this case, the final spousal benefit is 37.5 percent of the primary insurance amount. https://www.ssa.gov/oact/quickcalc/spouse.html
Current and ex-spouses may be eligible for spousal benefits. Ex-spouses must have been married for at least 10 years and be unmarried at the time of filing. You cannot receive spousal benefits unless your spouse is receiving their retirement benefits (except for ex-spouses). Receiving benefits as a spouse does not impact your spouse’s (or ex-spouse’s) own retirement amount. In general, your benefit as a spouse could be up to 50 percent of your spouse’s full retirement amount. If you begin receiving spousal benefits before your full retirement age, your spousal benefit will be permanently reduced. If you took your reduced retirement first while waiting for your spouse to reach retirement age, when you add spouse’s benefits later, your own retirement portion remains reduced. If you are eligible for a retirement benefit based on your own earnings record, and if that amount is higher than your benefit as a spouse, we will pay the retirement benefit from your own record. Otherwise, we pay your spousal benefit amount. For Example: If you are entitled to $500 per month from your own retirement record, and you are entitled to $1200 as a spouse, your total monthly benefit will equal $1200.
Multiple marriages and Social Security survivor benefits - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com) Can two wives collect Social Security from one husband?

mark

You cannot. You cannot collect based on your spouse’s record if your spouse has not started collecting ss
Can any CPA confirm it?
