在美国看病是一件需要斗智斗勇的事,在 the American Sickness 这本书里面,作者专门讲过该怎样避免 surprise bill,下面是看病时需要做的 checklist: - several questions to ask in doctors office - How much will this test/surgery/exam cost? "I don''t know" or "It depends on your insurance" is not an answer. If not sure about the cost, check Appendix A - Which blood test are you ordering? What X-ray? Why? - Are there cheaper alternatives that are equally good, or nearly so? - Where will this test/ surgery/ exam be performed--- at the hospital, at a surgery center, or in the office--- and how does the place impact the price? Doctors often practice and do procedures in different places on different days of the week. - Who else will be involved in my treatment? Will I be getting a separate bill from another provider? Can you recommend someone in my insurance network? - Things to do in the hospital - Hospitals have built a huge oversupply of private rooms, though insurers frequently won''t cover their cost. If you are assigned to a private room, make it clear that you did not request it and would be happy to occupy a room with another patient. - In the pages of admitting documents you''ll have to sign, there is inevitably one concerning your willingness to accept financial responsibility for charges not covered by your insurer. Before you sign, write in "as long as the providers are in my insurance network." You don''t mind paying the required co-payments or deductibles but not out-of-network charges. For every medical encounter, Olga Baker, the San Diego lawyer, adds a "limited consent" clause to the chart, indicating that "consent is limited to in-network care only and excludes out-of-network care." It has worked well for her and, at the very least, this annotation will give you a basis for arguing later. If documents are on iPad, request a printed version. - If you''re feeling well enough, ask to know the identity of every unfamiliar person who appears at your bedside, what he or she is doing, and who sent him or her. - If the hospital tries to send you home with equipment you don''t need, refuse it, even if it''s "covered by your insurance." - Dealing with bills - If you receive an outrageous bill from a hospital, a testing center, or a medical office, don''t wait--- negotiate! Prices are so inflated that even low-level clerks are often authorized to approve major discounts. - When a hospital bill arrives in the mail, request complete itemization. An itemized bill is your right. - Check the bill against the notes you made while you were in the hospital. - Protest bills in writing to create a record. Send a copy of your letter to a reporter at your local newspaper and the state insurance commissioner or consumer protection bureau. - Argue against surprise out-of-network bills, saying you were not informed of the out-of-network status of these providers and did not consent to them participating in your care. (See appendix E for some templates for protest letters)

While certain unpaid medical debt in collections can negatively impact your credit score, starting March 31, 2023, the credit reporting agencies will no longer include medical collections under $500 on your credit report—so those accounts won't hurt your credit. Paid medical collections do not appear on your credit reports at all, but larger unpaid medical collection balances can cause a credit score decrease. Here's what to know about the effects of medical debt on your credit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 赞同。我一般都是先和医疗机构打电话,记录下来对方姓名,case number, 收集一下资料,直节转寄给州监管部门投诉。
这个方法最有效。亲测过。
美国就是这样一个社会,没有这些基本的生存技能,你就是那道 table menu item。
医疗差不多是第一民生问题了, 全球除了办不到的,美帝是唯一一个纯私人医疗的国家,真是愚昧至极阿。 还有枪支问题,都要感谢这些愚民。脑仁里生虫了。
能列出 这本书 的 Amazon link 吗? 想买一本,不想买错。
因为是暴发户,金融吸血世界,航母自由航行全世界,搞垮了竞争对手,资本力量毫无制约。
顺带给普通民众喝了汤,那就医疗吸血回去,这个你无处可逃,也无法降级。
房租子可以住小一点,便宜的地方去逃,学校可以去差一点,不上大学,大房子和高学历不是真正刚需。但是医疗不是这样。移民一代逃离医疗吸血还有临时退路可逃个几年,二代没有任何可能,还会被洗脑成觉得本来就该使劲拉磨一辈子,同时持续被医疗资本吸光血是天经地义的。哎😑
美眉能告诉一下给什么相关部门打电话吗?如果有英文名称更好。我最近也面临同样的问题,愁死了
投诉到的部门叫什么名字啊?
我搜了一下,不知道是不是这本。看个病,还需要提心吊胆预防各种保险大坑,太烦了。
Mark 请问投诉到州里哪个部门?
马克学习
州的什么相关部门可以管这个? 可否分享是啥方面的医疗charge... 谢谢~
听起来美帝医院不像是救死扶伤的机构,甚至连一般的正经买卖都不如,而是彻头彻尾的黑店,孙二娘那种级别的。
看来你是没有碰到过,撞一次南墙就知道了.
因为你看医生有3~4笔不同地方寄来的费用.
请问州的相关部门关键词是什么?我也想投诉。
你确定上了collection不影响信用?
个人经历: 被追尾后头晕了几天,去做了个ct,以为车保搞定费用, 结果医院规定不能收车保的钱, 被上collection了.
直接丢了100多信用分.
学习了
州的相关部门能详细说一下吗?多谢🙏
请教一下投诉什么部门
不行,去趟急诊就几万了,要是动手术什么的,那就没底了。
Appendix A: Pricing/ Shopping Tools
书里面有,zlibrary 上有epub 版
Mark mark!
我遇到过的情况是照个CT走保险,最后自己要付1900,一个朋友没保险,MRI,自付700
zlibrary 不是shutdown了吗
No surprise 是不是比如去in network的无法bill out network的
Thanks for sharing
点赞这个,病人和家属太不容易了。
怎么投诉的?这么牛?
Mark.
这也太没牙了吧🤮
RE. 我一直以来都是和美国各种机构进行各种有效合理的抗争,基本都会有成效,除非我放弃了。LOL
请问相关部门是哪个?谢谢!
请问应该是州政府的哪个部门?我也需要打电话
