这也太夸张了吧。
当年Romney在竞选的时候，曾经说了一句话，说美国有47%的人都是不纳税的，靠政府养，都是投民主党的。我不评论这些不缴纳收入税的人是不是投民主党，但大约有一半人没收入，隐藏收入，或收入达不到缴纳收入税的门槛，应该是事实。
然而码农这个行业，最低工资也应该达到缴税门槛了吧，而且基本没法隐藏。
也即是说，在全美大概一亿多缴税人中，两千万码农，基本上每六七个人就有一个码农。这太疯狂了吧。

你这个数据，更不靠谱。而且离事实更远。
不知道你这个computer engineers的定义是什么。
GOOGLE一个公司的雇员有18万多，其中大约15万在美国。我认为这个公司里有至少1/10的人，可以被定义为码农。
也就是说，你这个美国，被GOOGLE一个公司就涵盖了。这还不算Meta，Oracle, MSFT等等等等，都是巨无霸，一堆写代码为生的。
更何况，每年美国的CS毕业生就接近15万（其中CS本科10万，约占每年本科毕业生的5%，CS硕士近5万，占硕士毕业生的8%）。一年就至少增加15万CS毕业生。
说实话，如果只要写代码的，就算码农的话，那两千万，真的有可能是对的。这里包括了CS, data science, math, stats, EE等等人士，从学生到雇员到退休人员都有。
按照Github的说法，还有可能比这个更多。当然Github也不权威就是了。

这数据还考虑什么外籍，每年h1b的码农申请数量都不止这么多。光那几家专往美国派码农的印度IT公司，都能提交几万个h1b申请。仅Tata consulting一家申请就过万。不过现在h1b visa lottery通过率太低了，也就三分之一多能被批准吧。
