英语语法问题

“The South Korean technology giant said it expects its business to improve throughout 2024,。。” 摘自某网站。
上面这句子里面 expects 不是应该过去式吗？ 我以前学的语法是如果SAID 后面没有引号“。。。。”，后面动词就应该跟前面时态。

这是对的语法。过去式verb后面可以跟现在式，而且后面的主语是it，不是the giant。

我学过的语法是这样说的：用expected的connotation是这是他们said的时候的expectation，现在还是不是就不知道了。用expect的connotation是这个expectation的时效性持续到现在甚至将来——这种情况新闻报道里比较常见。

我也被这个问题困扰了还久。我觉得中学学英语时，老师讲错了。n年前国内英语课本生硬的总结这些语法不是很准确。
