据说如果想考高一点的分数，有些孩子要考3次左右，所以第一次sat 是越早考越好吗？

看看你们高中的college application checklist，一般有推荐时间。我娃的学校是推荐11年级下的3月份考。理论上这个时间不算晚，后面还可以考5、6次，但是越到后面越和大学申请的时间冲突。
从减轻孩子后期压力的角度，可以考虑11年级上学期的8月、10月或11月考第一次，成绩不好的话winter break补一补，第2年3月再考一次，还不行暑假再努力一下，8月考第3次。 如果还想提前一些，10年级下学期3月考第1次，不行暑假补习，11年级根据情况再考1-2次。
建议避开5月和12月的，因为有college board的AP考试和期末。6月的因为刚考过final，又马上放暑假或者已经放假了几天，也可以不考，让娃歇口气。反正后面的8月、10月都可以考，中间有个假期还可以准备一下。
个人感觉安排三次的时间够了。另外10年级下开始已经够早，真的不用再提前了，没太大意义。这样按一般进度，娃的数学水平也能应付。

对的，所以我觉得11年级的10月、11月考最好，和PSAT一锅端。只有11年级的PSAT可以用来评National Merit Scholarship，考好了得个Finalist，有些大学比如USC还能给个半奖。

最近听说USC不太愿意给能拿半奖的学生下offer。不知真假。
