疫苗的时间还是太短了，副作用不明确，而且牵扯利益的人还都在台上，这还是一个ongoing story。再过二三十年，短期和长期副作用都有一个比较客观的评价了，我觉得再写出来的书才比较有价值。 推荐一些算是完结了的故事： thalidomide, 这个1960年代初曾经导致约10万畸形婴儿的药。 这是一个脑部的小手术, 曾经号称可以缓解精神疾病，让小孩更乖更听话，发明人还因此得了1949年诺贝尔奖。这个手术对人类了解大脑提供了大量的活体实验数据。 vioxx 是FDA 1999年approve的一个关节炎药,对关节炎用处一般，但是导致多人死于心血管疾病，已于1994年被药厂主动下架了。这个药后续有很多官司，merck赔了不少钱。但是有人计算过，overall这个药还是赚了钱的 history never repeat itself. but it does often rhyme

我也就看了五六本讲covid vaccine的书吧，这本写得最好。就算去掉这个火爆的题材，描述的手法和文字也很棒。是我看过的最好的和科学相关的普及书。
这本书里提到的人物很多，神奇的是，虽然描写每个人的笔墨不多，人物都立起来了。关于科学上的问题也写得很到位，能说明白为什么这个问题那么难， 而解决的方法为什么那么优秀。其它五六本书都没有做到这一点。
书里有好多好玩儿的细节，比如说Moderna的CEO着装风格和 Theranos的Elizabeth Holms 很像 （都学steve jobs穿turtle neck)，也有不少行为上的类似之处， 比如都特能忽悠投资者的钱，然后都藏着掖着不公布自己的研究成果。 所以Theranos的丑闻爆出来以后，大家也开始怀疑Moderna的CEO😁
不过LZ对这种题材感兴趣的，我可以再推荐几个：

新冠后遗症也不少，新冠疫苗也有一部分人反应很糟糕，反正都不咋样，最好应该是物理学家写一本如何防止airborne pathogens spread的书。
人造病毒可能有副作用， 但用同一伙人造出来的疫苗毒上加毒？
