Previously my HDL cholesterol was always high enough to wipe out the risk ration but this time, though it was a nice 55, everything else was too high, especially that LDL. My doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I said, wait, let me work on it for a month or two and he said ok. Then I remembered Questran, that old cholesterol med from years ago that was basically prescription fiber. It worked very well for a lot of people. Anyway, it dawned on me that I likely was not getting enough soluble fiber as I don't eat grains at all. Lots of veggies but no grains. I keep my carbs low, don't eat much meat, but I hadn't been getting enough of the right kind of fiber. For years! Duh. What's with me? I'm a RN! I should know better. Anyway, I found this stuff after researching and comparing products, and five weeks later taking 2 scoops of this twice daily ( twice the recommended amount, but ok with me), very impressed. So is my doctor. 5 weeks of taking it and my cholesterol dropped from 259 to 207, trigylcerides from 163 to 158, and LDL from 174 to 123, and a nice new happy risk ratio of 2.16! Yay! My HDL also went up to 57. Not sure if this is helping that or not. Always have exercised a lot for over 30 years so no difference in that department of self care. Anyway, wow. I'm very pleased, and I will continue to take this at 2 scoops twice a day, repeat lab in 3 months, and cut down to 1 scoop twice a day if my lab goes to well under the high range. I'm pretty sure it will!
