According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, a national database for missing people, over 90,000 people are missing in the U.S. at any given time. The average has been about 750,000 per year (10 year averaged based on NCIC reports). Of those, approximately: 60% are adults 40% are juveniles 52% are males 48% are females Of those reported missing, a large percentage are found, or technically were not missing. On average, there’s about 2,700 reported missing people each year that remain missing. (FYI: Of the 12 missing persons cases I personally worked, all of them were found, and all but three did not want to be found!)
