查尔斯三世可能积怨已久,也没那么讲究了。 想当年king Edward死的时候是这样宣布的: It was announced from Sandringham at 10.45 that the King, who retired to rest last night in his usual health, passed peacefully away in his sleep early this morning.
What’s the Difference Between Passed Away Instead of Died? The word “die” is unambiguous: we all know what it means to die. To “pass away,” on the other hand, is less clear. Euphemisms like “passed away” help us process events more gradually, while direct terms like “died” might help us reach a more immediate understanding of events. Origin of the phrase “passed away” The phrase “passed away” first appears in English writings from the 1400s. This was when most people believed that, when a person died, the soul physically “passed on” to the afterlife. In those Medieval days, the phrase “passed away” wasn’t considered a euphemism or metaphor for death. Instead, it was a literal description of what the majority of people believed happened when the body ceased to live. Today, beliefs about what happens when we die are less cut-and-dried. We now use the phrase, “passed away” euphemistically, rather than as a literal depiction of events. Is it Okey to Say Died Instead of Passed Away? The short answer is: yes. It’s almost always okay to say “died” instead of “passed away.” In fact, the death positivity movement encourages us to use direct terms like “death” more often. And using this type of direct phrasing might be the best choice in many situations. https://www.joincake.com/blog/passed-away-vs-died/
回复 60楼boxwood的帖子 "The king is dead, long live the king!" or simply "long live the king!" is a traditional proclamation made following the accession of a new monarch in various countries.
Die
yes. like a magazine subscription
should not promote Euphemism
or "negative patient care outcome"
