Not a lot of risk in intubation, but prob very unlikely to be extubated, will require trach and long term care if cannot quickly get off the vent. Might also see significant decline in mental status. You need to think about how far you willingn to and how far your mother is willing to go, and what her wishes are. If your mother recovers well this time with her mental status intact, now is the time to talk about end of life wishes. Because aspiration pneumonia will happen again. What is your mother''s baseline mental status at this point? I assume not great if she gets aspiration pneumonia
